David Bishop from Derby took the top spot on the podium at the London Triathlon on Sunday and it took a lot of hard work to finally get there!
Here's what the HUUB athlete had to say:
It's a great feeling to have finally won the London Triathlon having finished second and third in the previous two years. It came as a bit of a shock in all honesty, I have been suffering with an Achilles injury for the last month and recently had to have two weeks off running. So to come out on top with possibly my fastest ever 10k off the bike is awesome!
I’ve been concentrating on my swimming and biking while sidelined from running and it seems to have paid off. The swim was great, I soon found myself in a select group off the front of the race with fellow HUUBster Harry Wiltshire, as soon as I noticed him just a few swimmers up and leading the race I knew I was in a great position.
The bike was really enjoyable, I relish a good hard effort on the bike and the seven of us worked tirelessly to stay away from the large chase pack. I lead the run from the start but expected the three Australian athletes to challenge me straight away, especially Dan Wilson, who has recorded top 10 WTS results in the past.
By the last lap I had a good lead and although suffering in the heat was able to really enjoy the run through the ExCeL centre. This result comes after a pretty difficult start to the season, so I am hoping this is sign of things to come in the latter half of the year.

A special mention and massive congratulations to another HUUB athlete, Matt Bottrill, who smashed the Olympic Plus race in the morning taking the top place podium.
