Top triathletes from around the globe will be starting their WTS 2017 journey in Abu Dhabi this weekend. Featuring a brand new course which includes a section of the F1 Grand Prix course it will certainly add more excitement to the season opener.

The Women will get the ITU season underway this Friday 3rd March with the Men racing on Saturday 4th March. HUUB athletes to watch out for include Olympic medallist Henri Schoeman, Derby's Tom Bishop, Grant Sheldon, Lawrence Fanous, Marco Van Der Stel and Wian Sullward.

South Africa's Henri Schoeman took the Bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics and won his first WTS race at the season closing championship in Cozumel. He's one of the strongest swimmers in the Mens field so we'll be looking to see him exit the water first.

You can follow all of the action live at and on twitter @triathlonlive at 3:55pm local time in Abu Dhabi. UK viewers will be able to catch the races live on the BBC Red Button. Coverage of the Womens race begins at 11:50am on Friday with the Mens race at the same time on Saturday. You'll also be able to catch the highlights on Sunday at 1pm on BBC 2.
