HUUB Design will officially launch a £45,000 sponsorship package for the City of Derby swimming club at an event on Saturday 22 October.

Paralympic bronze medallist Lewis White, former City of Derby swimmer Ross Davenport and new assistant head coach Mandy Bell will be joined by more than 30 swimmers and coaches from across the club at the launch.

HUUB Design, founded by owner Dean Jackson, has answered the club’s plea for support in the wake of its star swimmer Adam Peaty’s gold and silver medal haul at Rio 2016. HUUB Design has agreed to support the club with a £15,000 annual commitment over three years made up of kit incentives and financial support.

Swimsuits available to club members have been designed using the same high-tech research as Huub’s award-winning triathlon wetsuits – sported by such elite athletes as Rio Gold and Silver medalists Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee as well as celebrities Jenson Button and Gordon Ramsay who are also accomplished triathletes.

Dean Jackson explained, “The media spotlight that focused on the fantastic work of Adam Peaty and the City of Derby swimming club also highlighted the club’s need for financial and kit support. Everyone in Derby is so proud of what Adam has achieved – thanks to the fantastic training that he has received at the club.

“I hope that our support for City of Derby will contribute to the next generation of Olympic swimming stars. As a Derby business that is involved in the triathlon elements of swim, cycle and run I felt honour-bound to respond to that plea.

“We should all however recognise that the city as a whole benefits from such a sporting accolade and I hope that more businesses around the city will follow suit.”

City of Derby assistant head coach Mandy Bell said “We are very excited to work with HUUB Design and represent the brand through continued swimming excellence. As we enter the new four-year Olympic cycle our swimmers will look professional and identifiable in competition.

“The kit HUUB has provided us with will support our swimmers in their pursuit of the outstanding performances they are capable of.”

Talsa Middleton, who is in charge of kit at the swim club added “Our club’s success over the years has been down to dedicated volunteers, coaches, parents, committee members and most importantly swimmers. Over eight great years under the guidance of head coach, Mel Marshall, the club has grown in both success and popularity.

“We now enter an era with HUUB to allow all our club swimmers at all levels to feel as important and professional as they deserve to. Dean has been fantastic for the club with his sponsorship, and we hope this encourages other businesses to get involved not just with us, but with all local clubs that are aiming to create future Olympic champions.

“We believe the look and feel the new kit will inspire all of our swimmers to great success, like our Junior League team who have recently made the national finals being held on 27 November after finishing 4th at the southern final.”

HUUB Design recently expanded into new offices and a triathlon equipment showroom at Park Bikeworks in Full Street, Cathedral Quarter. As well as showcasing the latest swimwear, the new facility also showcases a wide range of bikes, including Boardman bikes, wetsuits and triathlon kit.
