The distances for each discipline are set by Guinness and there are many rules to adhere to, making the attempt even more difficult. James won’t be able to stop for any longer than 5 minutes at a time, so he won’t be messing around and certainly won't be sleeping over this circa 36 hour Triathlon.
James is doing this in aid of “Alfreton Youngsters Umbrella Provision”, a charity close to his heart in his home town of Alfreton, who deliver free youth groups for 11-16 year olds in the town. James has seen the impact that this has had on his own children as well as others and so is attempting to raise a massive £25,000, which would secure the future of this provision which benefits 80-100 children each week, for the next year.
Support this cause through JustGiving, all funds go directly to running the youth groups.
HUUB are excited to be the first to publicly announce the planned distances for James’ Longest Triathlon, it’s LONG!
Swim - 15km Open Water Swim at the Lavender Patch, Derby. James will be swimming in none other than Alistair Brownlee’s Sub-7 developed wetsuit, coupled with the Manta Ray Photochromic goggles which will adapt to the changing light conditions over a 5-7 hour swim, giving him every possible performance advantage in the water. We imagine he’ll also be using a lot of HUUB LUUB!
Bike - 387.5km Road Cycle, this is draft legal and will mostly be completed at Darley Moor Sports Centre. Depending on the weather, James will be using a combination of the Anemoi Tri Suit, the Strada Cycling kit and the TT Skinsuit, as well as waterproofs as required.
Run - 97.5km made up of loops near to Cromford, finishing with a run up to Alfreton to finish at the finish line party which you are more than welcome to attend! James will be running in the HUUB Training Tech Tee.
James will be completing this massive record attempt local to HUUB in Derbyshire and we’re very proud to be a part of this project, combining performance with community. Further details are available on the AYUP Facebook page and live updates over the weekend of 13th & 14th July will be posted on the TriathlonDan YouTube Channel.
