HUUB adds another long-distance female talent to their athlete roster

HUUB is delighted to welcome long-distance pro triathlete Kat Matthews to their family of sponsored athletes for 2023 and beyond. Kat Matthews only turned pro in 2019, and by 2022 had claimed an Ironman World Championship silver medal, becoming a real force over the longer distances and proving she can mix it with the best in the world.

Dean Jackson, HUUB's CEO, commented, "Kat caught our eye last year after producing a sensational Sub7Sub8 performance to clock 7:31:54 in an epic win. We were delighted when Kat approached us after the event, having seen how HUUB's equipment helped break the Sub7 barrier in the men's race. Knowing our meticulous approach to aero watt saving research, using our 12 years of unrivalled hydrodynamic knowledge and propriety testing equipment in the swim to uncover where gains are still to be found, Kat was looking for gains in her performance. This isn't about fame and fortune, this is about speed."

Kat Matthews added, "Stoked to partner with HUUB across swim, bike and tri! I will be tapping into their expertise in performance across the triathlon spectrum and working together to get the best kit for me to maximise my performance in training and racing."

Kat only took up triathlon in 2015 while working as a physiotherapist officer in the British Army, helping injured servicemen and women with their rehabilitation. While there, she used the swimming pool, turned her hand to cycling, then gave triathlon a go. A lot of age-group racing followed, but Kat fell into middle-distance racing after randomly entering Ironman 70.3 Calgary with friends, which she won. More wins followed, and motivated by the opportunity to test herself against the very best, she turned pro. A series of podiums followed, including Ironman race victories and Ironman 70.3 titles.
