We are delighted to be able to support Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Challenge, Mollie King’s Pedal Power for Comic Relief on BBC Radio 1… The epic five-day test of endurance saw Mollie set off from her broadcasting home at NBH in London to cycle 500 km across the nation to reach her late father’s hometown of Hull. Having never cycled on the road before, Mollie trained hard and prepared both physically and mentally for this feat of resilience and determination.
Her journey finished on Friday 15th March, pedalling from London to Hull via Towcester, Burton-on-Trent, Manchester and Leeds, raising a massive £1.1 million in donations.
Mollie says she didn't hesitate when asked to do the challenge: "Just over a year ago, I suddenly lost my dad. It came about very unexpectedly. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour and passed away three months later. It’s still really hard to talk about - I hate talking about him in the past tense. But when I was asked to do this, I thought I have to do it."
"I want to help people who are struggling, and that is exactly what Comic Relief does. They are amazing. They help people who are homeless, struggling with poverty and struggling with bereavement - amongst so many other things."
