Leading UK triathlon wetsuit, clothing and accessories specialists HUUB Design have supported Radio 1 DJ Greg James and physical activity guru Professor Greg Whyte OBE in their gruelling Sport Relief challenge.
Both will be sporting the latest HUUB Archimedes II wetsuits as well as HUUB triathlon kit which has been designed in Derby by HUUB for their triathlon challenge which will see them undertake a triathlon a day in five different UK cities, starting in Belfast on February 8.
The gruelling challenge, announced at the recent National Television Awards, will see them face a total incline climb of 16,888 feet, whilst running and cycling, plus swimming around a mile a day in freezing outdoor and indoor conditions to raise as much cash as possible for Sport Relief.
Sport Relief supporters will be able to keep up to date with the progress as James broadcasts his Radio 1 show (4-7pm) from a new city every day, criss-crossing his way around the nation via Cardiff, Glasgow and Sheffield before storming across the finish line in Norwich on Friday February 12.
Taking in the sights with Greg and Professor Whyte along the way will be fellow presenters of BBC Radio 1, including Nick Grimshaw, and BBC 1Xtra as well as special celebrity guests, cheering them on in all five locations, which are also the flagship cities of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games , taking place Friday 18 to Sunday March 20.
Greg said: “It will come as no surprise to you that I’m not a professional athlete. So the prospect of doing one triathlon is daunting enough. Doing five in five days in five different cities is madness.
“I want this to be one of those challenges no one following it would want to do. It needs to be genuinely horrible for me so that people buy into it and donate their hard earned money to this incredible cause.
“Training has been tough, wet and so horribly cold but I’m determined to accomplish this so that Sport Relief will be able to direct some much needed money to support people who really need it.
“I’m looking forward to the fantastic Great British public’s support to keep me going in each city. It’s going to be a mad week!”
Dean Jackson is the founder and owner of Derby-based HUUB Design whose wetsuits have been voted best brand of the year for the past three years in industry awards and are worn by triathletes such as the Brownlee brothers and also by Jenson Button’s triathlon team.
He said: “Greg and Professor Whyte have set themselves a huge challenge and the least we could do was ensure they had the right kit for the task ahead of them.
“Let’s hope that the technology behind our triathlon kit will help them to achieve the goal of five triathlons in five days.
“We will be cheering them on and encouraging the triathlon community get right behind them.”
