Entries are now open for Derby’s Spring Classic Sportive event which has been confirmed for Sunday April 23, 2017.
Cyclists of all ages and abilities have the choice of three distances – 40k, 60k and 120k – starting and finishing at Markeaton Park with routes around South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.
Early bird entrants will qualify for a discount if they sign up by December 31 with further discounts available for those who also sign up for the North Derbyshire Cycle Sportive on September 17, 2017.
The Sportive is being organised by Cycle Derby and HUUB Events
Mark Smith from Cycle Derby said: “More than 900 riders joined the Spring Classic Sportive last year and we have already had a great response from the early birds who have been eagerly waiting for entries to open.
“The Derby Spring Classic Sportive has something for everyone with three different distance routes. For 2017 we are also introducing a King/Queen of the Mountain challenge for those undertaking the longer distances.
“As well as seasoned cyclists, we are attracting a lot of people and young families who are new to the sport which meets our objective of getting more people active.
“In addition, Cycle Derby will be organising a range of family activities in Markeaton Park to introduce young people to cycling and encourage a new generation to catch the cycling bug!”
HUUB Events Race Director Claire Duffin added: “The response that we have already had shows that Derby is well and truly a cycling city.
“Entries are already coming in from local people and those from further afield which is great news for the city as they come here with their family and friends for an enjoyable day out.”
