HUUB Events awarded Derbyshire School Games delivery contract

Derbyshire Sport is pleased to announce that HUUB Events has been awarded the contract to deliver the Derbyshire School Games Level 3 programme in 2016-2017.

The Derby-based events company, behind the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon and Cycle Derby Sportives, will lead the delivery of schools’ county final events on behalf of the County Sport Partnership.

Derbyshire’s School Games programme features 45 priority competitions, including mini soccer, basketball and sportshall athletics, which culminates in the Derbyshire School Games Event at Trent College in July 2017.

“HUUB Events will be a fantastic delivery partner for the School Games programme,” said Ilana Freestone, Director of Derbyshire Sport. “Their staff team has great experience in school sport, as well as delivering award-winning sports events.

“We are very excited to have them involved in developing and delivering the School Games programme in Derbyshire.”

The national School Games programme is funded by Sport England to engage young people in competitive sport.

It operates across four levels, from Level 1 in school through to Level 4 at national level, providing appropriate pathways for schools and young people to compete in a range of sports.

Will Evans, of Huub Events, added: “The School Games is a very important programme and provides young people across the country with the chance to enjoy competing in a range of sports.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to be involved with the programme and will work to provide outstanding and inspiring experiences for young people across Derbyshire.”

Derbyshire Sport is funded by Sport England to lead delivery of the programme in the county.

School Games Organisers operate in all districts of the county, delivering Level 1 and Level 2 of the programme. Schools are able to qualify to Level 3 county events by performances at Level 2.
