HUUB Gears Up For Park Bikeworks Move

Secure cycle parking and a new shop featuring top international cycling brands is still available in the refurbished Park Bikeworks in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, following the move there by Derby-based triathlon wetsuit, clothing and accessories specialists HUUB Design.

HUUB Design have moved to the refurbished Park Bikeworks in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter complete with secure cycle parking and a new cycling shop.

Under HUUB Design’s leasehold agreement with Derby City Council, bike parking at the premises in Full Street will continue to be available for the public under the management of a new company Park Bikeworks Ltd.

Boardman Bikes, the British bicycle manufacturer founded by the professional cyclist Chris Boardman, will open its third UK showroom at Park Bikeworks in the coming weeks.

This will be closely followed by the opening of top French sunglasses and helmet manufacturer Ekoi’s first UK showroom.

Both brands support triathlon medal winners Alistair and Jonny Brownlee who are also part of the HUUB Design ‘family’ of athletes.

The ten-strong HUUB Design team have now moved their operations from Sinfin to Park Bikeworks.

They have been joined by three staff from its sister company HUUB Events, who are working with partners to organise a wide range of new events for the city including the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon on Sunday July 17.

A start-up business supported by HUUB Design, Full Street Design creative agency, are also based at the premises.

Park Bikeworks Ltd Director Campbell Wigley said: “We are delighted to be working with Derby City Council and HUUB Design to ensure the continued access to safe and secure bike parking here for the general public.

“Bringing Boardman Bokes and Ekoi into the premises is a real coup for the city and will be welcomed by cyclists across the region who will now be able to see, feel and try the products first hand in the showroom.”

Councillor Martin Rawson, Derby City Council Cabinet Member for Communities and City Centre Regeneration, continued: "Derby has been leading the way on the alternative transport agenda over the last few years.

“I am therefore pleased that through this new partnership, the secure bike facility offer continues.

“This enables more people to cycle to and from work, which in turn supports our ambition as a council to reduce carbon emissions, generate economic growth and improve physical activity."

HUUB Design founder and owner Dean Jackson concluded: “As a growing company, Park Bikeworks fits with our aims of promoting fitness and participation in sport - particularly the triathlon disciplines of swim, bike and run.

“This is certainly a beautiful building in the heart of the city centre.  Having outgrown our current premises in Sinfin, it gives us the space to further expand our operations in Derby in the future.”
