HUUB Triathlon Relays set for return

HUUB Triathlon Relays set for return

The HUUB Triathlon Relays are set to go ahead this summer. Athletes are invited to form a team of four and enjoy organised chaos at the National Watersport Centre in Nottingham as one of Britain’s best loved events returns to the calendar on Bank Holiday August 28th.

There will be a double celebration this year. Not only is the event returning after a year off, but it’s also the 30th anniversary of the Relays. The event has arguably more history than any other triathlon in Britain and has hosted stars of the sport, taking part alongside novices, club mates and triathletes in tutus.

The format lends itself to fun given the breaks between each leg of the triathlon. After swimming, athletes support their following teammates through the swim before cycling, having another break and then running. The atmosphere around the course is unique and whipped up by live DJ’s and passionate commentators.

After a year of not getting together, this traffic free venue lends itself to the social side of the sport. The on-site camp site is available to host athletes as well as the venue being located just two miles away from the lively city centre of Nottingham.

Event Director, Iain Hamilton, said: “The Relays are known for being a fun for athletes of all levels. After a long year of restrictions, we hope this will provide an opportunity for people to get together and enjoy very friendly competition.”

Dean Jackson, HUUB founder and owner said with excitement: “Its great news that clubs will be able to come back together, race together and enjoy our amazing triathlon community. It’s been too long since we all raced and theres nothing like the Relays, the best club event on the planet.”

The format involves a 500m swim, 15km bike ride (three laps of a flat, traffic free loop) and a 5km flat run to finish. Based on current guidelines, it is intended to run the event in its traditional format, but adaptions can be made as needed.
