After a covid delayed start to the season, the HUUB sponsored Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling Team finally got the chance to open up their national and international campaign.
Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling was formed to provide a platform for developing riders and providing opportunity to compete at a global level.
International racing started back with the Tour of Estonia, a 2-day race starting in Tallin and finishing in Tatu. The team took the race on but maybe a bit too eagerly after the long delay in racing. The good form was clear from the aggressive racing by the team, and a big result was clearly imminent.
Next, it was on to the Tour of Slovenia, part of the UCI Pro series this race included reigning Tour de France champion Tadej Pogačar. The high profile race in the mountains of Slovenia would be a real test for team Ribble Weldtite - up against some of the highest-profile riders and teams in the world. The team were to rise to the occasion with James Shaw securing 5th on GC, the only Continental rider of the race to make the top 10 in such an established field. The commentary team delivered constant praise on Team Ribble Weldtite's performance against some of the best in the world.
The following week the team were back on domestic soil for the National Team Time Trial Championships in Scotland. Ribble fielded two teams and came away with Gold and Silver in the competition.
To wrap up a highly successful month the Team set their sights on the prestigious Otley Grand Prix – Round One of the Elite circuit series. With the team putting full faith in Matt Gibson, he delivered a fantastic result taking the win and an early lead in the National Series.
The second and final round of the HSBC UK | National Circuit Series will take place in Ilkley on Friday 23 July - so watch this space!
